Cahaba GBA, LLC annually evaluates its active Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) to determine if there is a need to revise or retire an LCD based on National Coverage Determinations (NCD), changes in CPT coding, outdated technology, or utilization data.
As a result of this process, the LCD Interferons: Alfacon-1, Alpha and Gamma-1b (L24982) is retired effective June 1, 2007. Please note that although an LCD has been retired, the service continues to be a covered service under Cahaba GBA, LLC Medicare Part B provided the service is medically reasonable and necessary.
