Provider Awareness of Cahaba's Advisory Groups
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that Cahaba support and maintain a Provider/Supplier Communication (P/SCOM) Advisory Group. This article provides information about the groups, how they function, and the capacity in which you, as a non-advisory group member, can impact the educational efforts of Cahaba.
The primary function of the Advisory Group is to assist Cahaba in creating, reviewing and implementing provider education strategies and efforts.
While Cahaba is responsible for coordinating the Advisory Group meetings, the Advisory Group members are responsible for providing agenda items, guidance and feedback to Cahaba on the educational needs. As a non-Advisory Group member, you can still be involved and provide input into the education that Cahaba conducts by contacting an Advisory Group member and suggesting educational ideas and topics.
Advisory Groups are composed of various representatives, including professional associations, providers and their staff, and encompasses both rural and urban geographic locations. A summary of the selection processes used follows.
Alabama Part A Providers
The Alabama Part A Advisory Group is comprised of a number of representatives from hospitals, SNFs, Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORFs), Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (ORFs), Long-Term Care Hospitals (LTCHs), and Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs) within the state of Alabama along with a representative from the national chains and a representative from the Alabama Hospital Association. Provider members are chosen by Cahaba based on their size, provider type, and geographic location.
A current listing of Advisory Group members as well as minutes from prior Advisory Group meetings can be found on our Web site. We invite you to access the minutes and contact your Advisory Group representative with ideas and suggestions for educational efforts to address widespread, unresolved issues impacting your provider type.
If you have additional questions about the Advisory Group process, please submit your question via e-mail on the Contact Us page.
