Dial-up Networking
Using the Dial-up Networking component that is a part of your Windows operating system on your personal computer, modem and existing phone line you can establish a connection to Cahaba. This method of connectivity does not require any additional software or hardware and is easy to set up. Any charges associated with the connection via phone lines between your business and Cahaba would be assessed by your telephone service provider and appear on your telephone bill. If the (205)988 area code and prefix are long distance from your office you will incur long distance charges from your telephone service provider. To minimize long distance charges it is important to remember to disconnect from Cahaba when you are finished conducting EDI business.
How Dial-up Networking works
Dial-up Networking is used to initiate the "call" between your computer and Cahaba's modem bank located in Birmingham, Alabama. This connection allows you access to our secure network using individually assigned user ID and passwords provided by Cahaba EDI Services. Once connected you will have access to the tools you need to conduct EDI with Cahaba such as access to the FISS, an FTP directory assigned to your company for the use of exchanging EDI transactions, limited access to websites directly related to your business with Cahaba.
Where can I obtain detailed instructions?
Cahaba provides you with detailed instructions based on the version of Windows that you are using to as well as instructions to assist you in establishing connectivity, using software distributed by Cahaba and understanding your electronic transactions.
